April Topic: CHRIST'S RESURRECTION

This is what sets Christianity apart from all other religions. You cannot build up a lasting meaningful relationship with someone who is dead!

That is why Christianity is NOT a religion.

We have a unique relationship with God's One & Only Son who is Alive today and for evermore.

That is a meaningful relationship!

Come; let's remind ourselves about what happened...

John 20:4

BOTH WERE RUNNING...

Zeal is not "fruit" of the Spirit.

I used to pray for zeal as a young man until one of the elders spoke on the subject and pointed out that it was not fruit of the Spirit. I then stopped praying for it.

However, today, not only do I think I should start praying for it again but also pray for others to get it too!

Whilst zeal may not be "fruit of the Spirit", neither are apathy and procrastination!

We seem to be living in a world where people don't really seem to care any more. You do what you like and all will be fine. It's crept into the Church too. Ask the leaders of any Church and they'll tell you that the "work" is done by about 10% of the membership because the rest can't be bothered or have other priorities.

Until we have some zeal and make Jesus and His work a priority in our lives, the Christian Church, Gospel and Message will continue to be as impotent as it is today.

Hard words, eh - that's why this was written for those "sold out" for Jesus or those who want to be! It's not for those who have "other" priorities!

Peter and presumably John were running to the tomb. Why bother to run, He was already gone? It is empty! Dead bodies don't run anywhere! Not only did they run, but there was obviously determination and zeal in their efforts because John beat Peter to the tomb. This wasn't an early morning jog to keep fit - this was nearer a 100-metre dash, which John won!

Why? Because they wanted to know if the report was true or just emotion. Peter always wanted to be with Jesus - that's why he walked on water.

John recognised the love Jesus had for Him and couldn't get enough! They were both wanting to believe what they had heard but in order to do so were prepared to put themselves out.

What about you?

Do you check out what people tell you to see if it is real or just emotion?

Do you always want to be with Jesus?

Do you recognise the fact that Jesus loves you and you can't get enough?

How high on the zeal meter is your reading?
