Malachi 1:11
MY NAME WILL BE GREAT AMONG THE NATIONS... FROM THE RISING TO THE SETTING OF THE SUN.
I love this verse because it is already happening!
Having had the privilege of living near the International Date Line, I have been there at the rising of the sun of each new day and I can confirm that here in New Zealand God's Name is great among the nations - indeed, we have a Christian Radio Station, Radio Rhema, broadcasting the praises of God's Name, 24 hours, every day of every week, across its nationwide network!
To the opposite end we know that in the Cook Islands and in Samoa, the Lord's Name is praised. Every hour in between Christians rise to add their voices in a continuous anthem of praise and worship so that, even today, this verse is true.
As another old hymn says -
"The sun that bids us rest
is waking our brethren 'neath the western sky
and hour by hour fresh lips are making
Your wondrous doings known on high."
Have you ever realised that YOU play a vital part in this? You are a part of the chain. The Lord needs You to play Your part so that the authorities and powers in the heavenly realms know for sure that our God reigns; that He has won the Victor's crown and that we, His children, are thrilled to be His and grateful for all He has done.
The Global March for Jesus is another part of this, albeit once every two years or so. We need to 'make His Name' great every day, not just once every two years, nor just once a week when we go to church.
What is more, those of us who live near the 'dateline dawn' of a new day, have an even greater responsibility, because if 'we' don't start the day off right, who is going to follow? Rather, we have the greatest privilege of all - to 'lead the way' and 'show the world' that our God is the Great God above all gods, for the gods of the nations are not gods at all.
Let us keep true to Him, and bring Him our pure offerings of praise and worship at the beginning of each new day so that we can keep this verse totally accurate!
