October Topic: Grace |
As it is not until we have a deep appreciation of what GRACE is and means, that we really come into the full liberty in Christ that we have been purchased to experience, let's take this month to explore some of its depths and treasures. |
Romans 8:17
HEIRS OF GOD... CO-HEIRS WITH CHRIST
How can it be?
Can a worm become a lion? Can a clam become a giraffe? The evolutionists may think so in another 3,000 million years! But, yes, a worm like me can become a lion like the Lion of the Tribe of Judah!
What a prospect; what a privilege; what an awesome thought! What is impossible for man - even evolutionists - is possible with God! God who made you and me from the dust in the first place can 'recreate' (not re-incarnate!) us into something beautiful for Him. Not only beautiful, but graceful and powerful, too. Again it is not because we deserve it, not because we can earn it, BUT because of the unconditional, inexhaustible Grace of God.
"We did not receive a spirit of fear, but of sonship, so we cry 'Abba Father' ('Daddy'). The Spirit testifies with our spirits that we are God's children. Now if we are children, we are heirs - heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His Glory."
We really must try and get our hearts and minds to accept the fact that God desires us to be set free to live life in all its fullness - even while we still live on earth. He wants us to enjoy His company more than anything else. We who are saved are "set apart" for Him - bought with a price. To live for Him alone, not as a duty but as a thrilling Eternal experience.
I quoted the whole verse because, yes, there is a condition. "If indeed we share in His sufferings." Will we need to be hung on a cross? No, not necessarily, but we will have to voluntarily "crucify self". We have to humble ourselves - to be prepared to die daily for Him. Like Him we will have to learn obedience through what we suffer!
Are you prepared for that?
If you are, then as the verse goes on to say, "we may also share in His Glory."
What an awesome prospect!
Worth it, isn't it!
