Job 6:10
“Then I would still have this consolation - my joy in unrelenting pain - that I had not denied the words of the Holy One.”
Integrity is a very precious thing.
Most people seek anything and everything else. Integrity is not just honesty - It is the real you. Integrity is what marks you out as different from all the rest.
It’s where a man dies of hunger, lying beside food belonging to someone else. It’s owning up to your wrongs even though no one found them out.
It’s giving credit to whom it belongs instead of keeping it to yourself.
It’s being totally loyal to someone while everyone else criticises and seeks to dishonour him and promote you in his place instead.
It’s holding onto your convictions without compromise when not to do so would be more popular.
It’s standing on your own, going against the crowd while standing up for righteousness and justice.
It probably won’t bring wealth, riches and popularity but it does bring peace, strength and meekness. There is no false humility here. Integrity also knows when it is right and will defend that vigorously, if necessary.
The pressure Satan was bringing to bear upon Job, through his friends, was not only to bring doubt and discouragement, but also to challenge his view of God. That is usually the goal of Satanic attack. The obvious is usually just a smokescreen for his real intention.
Moral integrity does not exist outside of God. That is why we have people calling that which is evil, good and that which is good, evil. The end result is far more than the confusion of the rational mind. It is a direct attack on God.
Why has evil become so arrogant? Why do we allow injustice and moral corruption in our society? Satan has made us impotent. Yes, there is cowardice, there is the fear of man involved but there is more - he has established the ground rules.
He has portrayed God as evil. ‘God is the One who has caused all the pain, suffering and injustice in the world and has alienated His people from Himself by imposing impossible conditions upon them. If God is a good God, how come He allows it all and doesn’t do something about it?’ Thus, to make a stand for God is to make a stand for evil. See how subtle he is?
But listen. Where are you on integrity? Take a few moments to get back on track and regain your integrity. It doesn’t depend on circumstances.
With integrity you can withstand anything and still be victorious in the end. Remember Joseph? He was imprisoned for his integrity.
Look at Job. He maintained his throughout. And remember God is a GOOD GOD.
