Jeremiah 15:1
Then the Lord said to me: “Even if Moses and Samuel were to stand before Me, My heart would not go out to this people. Send them away from My Presence! Let them go!”
That is heavy stuff. It’s a glimpse of Hell.
How many times had Moses interceded for the Children of Israel and God had relented because of it? How often had Samuel offered sacrifices for the people to turn their hearts back to God? And when they did, God had continued to bless, protect, guide and keep His rebellious, wayward people. But did they learn anything through all these events? Evidently not. They were still rebellious, wayward and stiff-necked, even in Jeremiah’s day. As God said in the days of Noah, “My Spirit will not contend with man for ever” (Genesis 6:3).
God does and will act against evil. It is a ‘Ring of Truth’! It is a false doctrine that says God overlooks our sin. He doesn’t, He never has, and He never will. God is the same God throughout history. The God who banished Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:23-24) is the same God who took His people into exile (2 Chronicles 36:20). The same God who destroyed Achan’s family for disobedience (Joshua 7:24-26) is the same God who destroyed Uzzah when he reached out his hand to steady the Ark as it was brought by cart to Jerusalem (2 Samuel 6:6-7). And He is the same God who removed Ananias and Sapphira from the early church for deception (Acts 5:1-11).
God is a Holy God and He deals with sin. It is totally false theology to think otherwise. God is not some weak-willed, namby-pamby pushover that the media presents – or liberal theologians portray. No, He is the Omnipotent, Almighty, Holy God before whom we shall all be accountable for all our thoughts and actions and as the Supreme, Ultimate Judge, He will decide our fate: Heaven or Hell.
Just as He threw Satan and his angels out of His Presence (Luke 10:18), so will He banish them eternally, with all those who follow him and reject the Lordship of Jesus Christ over their lives (Revelation 20:11-15).
That is fact. It is Scripturally consistent with the Character and Nature of God – the Biblical God – and consistent with the revelation of God’s ways in Scripture. They will be sent “away from My Presence” forever – and NO ONE will be able to intercede on their behalf. Why? Because they have rejected Scripture, they have rejected Moses and the prophets and worse still, they have rejected the One to whom the prophets pointed – the One and Only Son of God – the Saviour of the World – Jesus Christ.
If you reject Him, where can you turn? Answer – nowhere. Reject Him and God has no choice but to reject you. As Jesus said –
“I AM the Way and the Truth and the Life – NO ONE comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). End of debate. End of story.
So make sure He is your Lord and Saviour. Please.
