Jeremiah 31:3b

“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.”

The Book of Jeremiah is one of stark contrasts.

Many avoid it because of its prophetic messages of doom and gloom. Indeed, we often hear of people being called a ‘Jeremiah’ because they are always despondent and negative. But that is an unjust criticism. In the Book of Jeremiah are some of the most wonderful Scriptures ever written. Out of despair, there is hope – out of darkness shines the purest, brightest and most beautiful light.

Jeremiah was one who knew His God. His message may have been unpopular and strong but if received, brought life, warmth and hope. We skipped over Chapter 23 but look –

“So then, the days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when people will no longer say, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites up out of Egypt,’ but they will say, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the descendants of Israel up out of the land of the north and out of all the countries where He had banished them.’ Then they will live in their own land” (v 7-8).

Hope – and it is happening today. Chapter 31 is another great chapter of hope. Take time to read it all.

In Chapter 32, we read two of the greatest statements of all –

“Ah, Sovereign Lord, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for You” (v 17).

“I am the Lord, the God of all Mankind. Is anything too hard for Me?” (v 27)

What great verses. Memorise them – claim them as your own and get to know your God in that way. They are another ‘Ring of Truth’! Listen, every promise in the Bible is ours because of Christ (see 2 Corinthians 1:20). God is eternal. His Word never changes.

Listen – God is saying to you right now –

“I have loved YOU with an everlasting love; I have drawn YOU with loving kindness” (Jeremiah 31:3).

That’s why you are reading this now. He loves you and has drawn you to read it. It is not by chance. It is His plan for you. He wants you to know right now, whatever you are going through; whatever crises, challenges or circumstances you face, and whatever emotions are taking hold of you – “I LOVE YOU”.

“Restrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears; for your work will be rewarded,” declares the Lord (v 16).

“So there is hope for your future” (v 17).

“I will make a new Covenant” (v 31).

“This is the Covenant I will make with the House of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord. I will put My law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be My people” (v 33).

“They will all know Me...” “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more” (v 34).

Isn’t that GOOD NEWS? GOD LOVES YOU.

And He will give you both the desire and the power to love and serve Him and to reach your God-ordained destiny.

Hey, why not spend a bit of time worshipping Him today, thanking Him for His love and grace to you and saying how much you love Him, too?
