THE REASON THE SON OF MAN WAS REVEALED WAS TO DESTROY THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL
I get tired of Christians coming up to me; totally on the defensive and complaining that satan is attacking them.
"Can you pray for me as I'm 'under attack.'?" "There's something in my house which bothers me." "Someone has put a curse on me." Or they're afraid to go somewhere because "you can sense the evil there." Or "I wonder if I've bought something which is cursed?"
Excuse me; I understood that when Jesus died at Calvary He said, "It's finished!" He says in Revelation - "I hold the keys of death and Hades" and as Paul says in Colossians 2:15 "Having disarmed the powers and authorities He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. " Yes, I know the enemy tries to attack and defeat us but he is toothless! Satan had me bound but Jesus set me free!
Yes, he can hurt the body but he can't destroy the soul. Who was it said, "the best form of defence is attack"?
You and I have been given all the Authority to overcome ALL his attacks and schemes. Just because you don't use it, doesn't mean God hasn't given it to you!
Listen, the reason the Son of Man was revealed was to destroy the works of the devil. I want to do the same. No, not in my strength but in the Might of the Son of God. I'm holding onto His "coat tails"!
I'm with Smith Wigglesworth who is reported to have woken from sleep and seen satan standing at the end of his bed with evil intent. "Oh it's only you" said Smith Wigglesworth and turned over and went back to sleep!
We are not here, as Children of God, to be afraid of the enemy - we are here to destroy his works. To set his captives free; give sight to those he has blinded, hearing to those he has made deaf; and wholeness to those he has crippled. He is to be afraid of you and me! Not the other way around.
As a Bible College Principal friend of mine told his students - "get in the habit of praying one dangerous prayer a day!" Maybe then we will stop worrying about satan's kingdom and start the offensive to destroy it.
Let me let you into a secret - it will be destroyed! Totally annihilated! Once and for all.
