BEGINNING WITH MOSES AND ALL THE PROPHETS...
I think we forget that. Jesus' life, death and resurrection are all prophesied in the Old Testament!
The trouble, with us 20th Century Christians, is that we rely on a preacher to tell us all about Jesus, when in fact, we can find out for ourselves. The preacher/minister has a limit to what he can teach in 52 weeks and yet we have a Bible at our fingertips every day of the year. Another concern I have is, that we seem to have "set/favourite" passages in Scripture, which we go over and over, leaving so much untouched, and the ones we do touch are found mainly in the New Testament only.
The Gospel of the Good News was first preached from the Old Testament and we do well to go through those for ourselves and find out how, centuries earlier, God had said that the Messiah would come, would die on a cross and rise again.
What a phenomenal Bible Study those two must have had! Oh, to have been there with them, when none other than the Son of God revealed from the Scriptures, right from Moses and the Pentateuch, through the Psalms and Prophets - those things concerning Himself. Those wonderful Scriptures, that are all about who He is and what He would do.
I love a good Bible Study and here was the one to end them all. They took no notes, they weren't able to tape it or video it, but just absorb it.
Like the best sunsets - you can't capture them on canvas or on film or video. You have to sit and watch them and try somehow to absorb them into your being, into your memory.
Yes, but this was even more than a sunset; a veritable dawning of the Truth in all its radiant glory and splendour.
By the grace and presence of His Holy Spirit, we can experience it today, right now.
