April Topic: CHRIST'S RESURRECTION |
This is what sets Christianity apart from all other religions. You cannot build up a lasting meaningful relationship with someone who is dead! That is why Christianity is NOT a religion. We have a unique relationship with God's One & Only Son who is Alive today and for evermore. That is a meaningful relationship! Come; let's remind ourselves about what happened... |
Luke 24:26
DID NOT THE CHRIST HAVE TO ... ENTER HIS GLORY?
How often we have to rethink our theology?
Doctrine is "safe" as it comes straight from the Bible, but we each develop our own theology and I must admit mine has changed over the years, as I have got to know the real Jesus, and as the Holy Spirit has revealed more and more truth from the Word.
We receive so much from others, books like this, commentaries and autobiographies but He is the Final Word and our theology, which is so often coloured by our experience, if not based totally on it, needs to adapt to our pilgrimage and developing understanding of who God is.
That is not to say that God is complicated or indeed His message is complicated. No, that is simple so that everyone in the whole world regardless of ethnic group can understand.
BUT how can the finite understand the Infinite and the mortal describe the Eternal. As Paul put it, we see as in a mirror indistinctly - then we shall see Him face to face.
Yes, they thought and had been told that the Messiah would come to reign as King of kings and Lord of lords. He would restore the Throne of David and release them from the Roman oppression, and that truth and righteousness would abound.
But they had overlooked the "Suffering Servant".
And "enter His glory" - what was that?
You see "their glory" - the 'glory' they envisioned was far too small, too limited and too human.
He has a higher throne than that of David. He sits at God's right hand until all His foes become the footstool for His feet.
They hadn't yet realised that "Their Christ" had to enter "His Glory" for He had conquered sin and death and Hell.
Has the "Christ" you serve and worship entered His Glory or is your vision still too small?
