July Topic: Mission - The Call Of God |
This month I want to remind us What ON EARTH We should be doing! And What is our FATHER'S heartbeat? What is His greatest desire? |
Romans 10:14
HOW CAN THEY HEAR WITHOUT SOMEONE PREACHING TO THEM?
They won't!
That's why we have the problem we do in what has become known as the 20/40 window! For those of you who don't know the term, it relates to 20 degrees - 40 degrees latitude north of the Equator. A massive landmass with a massive population where apparently most have never heard about Jesus Christ.
Why, oh why, is it that we in what we call the Western world spend so much time and energy preaching to the converted, with little or no results and there in that 'window' of opportunity no one goes? Yes, it is fine to pray for the people; yes it is fine to pray for the Lord to open doors of opportunity; yes it is fine to pray for the Lord to send forth His labourers into His harvest fields there BUT ... But I believe it is total hypocrisy to do so, unless I am prepared to be part of the answer.
Some people will pray until they are blue in the face but will never be prepared to shift an inch in the direction of the answer. Prayer was never intended to be a sop to our conscience. ("Oh yes, I pray for the 20/40 window each year!") Just as tithing or any giving is not meant to be sop to the conscience.
Although in some ways I'd agree - if you're not prepared to go yourself at least finance someone to go for you. Better still - why lose out in the total privilege and blessing of turning a person, a tribe, a city, a nation or a continent to Jesus.
GO YOURSELF!
How do you know God has NOT told YOU to?
Especially when the last words of Jesus recorded: -
In Matthew 28 are "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel"
In Acts 1 are "You shall be by witnesses ...and to the ends of the earth!"
