THE AUTHOR & PERFECTER OF OUR FAITH

I find that a tremendous relief. You see it's not totally up to me. It wasn't initiated by me. Jesus came. Jesus came to seek and to save the lost. While I was still a sinner Christ died for me. He is the author of my faith. It is God initiated, and it is God ordained - not man originated.
I don't go searching for God - God is searching for me. We are 'saved by faith' and that is not of ourselves - it is the 'gift' of God. He gives us the faith to believe in the first place and then is committed to see it come to perfection - completeness.
Over the years I have had my faith 'tested' many times. I prefer to use the term stretched. Why? Because God is not into letting us fail but into perfecting us. He stretches our faith so that it grows. As we allow Him to stretch us, so our faith is increased. Basically, it means, I get to know God more and I am then able to 'trust' Him for bigger and more challenging circumstances and paths of faith. I can get very frustrated at what I perceive other people's level or lack of faith. Then the Lord reminds me that faith is a gift from God. I cannot boast about my faith. It is a gift from Him.
But He does want to give us all, more. That is up to us. We can shy away and say, "no, thank you, I'm happy with what I've got" and He'll back off. But that is not His will. He wants to go on stretching us so that we find out more and more about the real heart of Father - so that when we have run the race He has also perfected our faith. Ready to be stretched, today?
