February Topic: WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING |
This month I want us to look at why we are still on earth! We are not in Heaven yet - we are destined to go there - and many of us would like to go there quickly (be it to escape the present, be released from the pain experienced on earth or just out of an overwhelming desire to "be with Jesus"). So why can't we go there straight away once we have become a Christian? Maybe there is still something for me to do or become on earth. Let's together have a look at what we are here for... |
Esther 4:13
AND WHO KNOWS ... THAT YOU HAVE COME ... FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS
This speaks to me of destiny!
I get a shiver up my spine each time I read this verse. Indeed I do every time I realise I'm not a slimy green blob which slid out of the sea and announced "Hello my name is John White!"
I, you, we have a destiny! God has a specific plan and purpose for your life. I used to fantasise about living in the days of old. Wearing hat and cape and galloping around the countryside on horseback like a highwayman. I thought that would be "really me".
Then the Lord impressed upon me not only all the "down side" of those days but that He had actually given me the privilege of living NOW. What a phenomenal privilege - to live in that moment of history that the creator God has designed me to live in!
Hey, it's true for you too! You are not "here by accident". Your home; your work; your street; your city; your town; your village; your nation; NOT by accident. But by God's plan and purpose in your life. He chose your parents too (just as He chose the parents of Jesus).
But maybe one of you is saying, but I'm here because of disobedience not out of the plan of God. If that is true for you, listen. There is forgiveness at Calvary. Jesus died on the cross for our disobedience but was raised for our justification. Confess to Him the disobedience, repent from it and accept the forgiveness He promises you through the blood of Jesus. Then, even your situation becomes the same and He can use you just where you are now!
Can I ask you? Where are you? Take stock, where are you? Your home, your work, your church, where are you?
God has been watching over you. He knows where you are.
And may I challenge you, just as Mordecai challenged Esther, who knows, that you have come to the very position that you are in now for "such a time as this!"
Take a few minutes to ask God what it is that He wants you to do with the position you are in today and then, like Esther, GO DO IT!
