THE LORD IS WITH YOU MIGHTY WARRIOR!
Who me?
No! Must be someone else! Look around quickly and try and find out who God is talking to! But just like Gideon, you will find it is the Lord talking to YOU!
Isn't it a good job that God sees us differently than we see ourselves! No, Gideon had not been using a mirror but he had allowed himself to get into the same mind-set of those around him, and may I suggest that that is the very same mind-set that is equally prevalent today.
The world has all the answers ... "they" just mock the Church and Christianity. The Church is the laughing stock of the media and no longer has it any voice let alone a relevant one! Christianity is a thing of the past and only dreamers, eccentrics, extremists, and religious, legalistic bigots adhere to it now!
Gideon evidently lived in a similar environment. We have heard all about what God did in the past but what is He doing now? Worse still, does He care?
What is God's response? Go in the strength you have. Go in the strength you have - not what you would like. God wants to use you, as you are, not how you wish you were. But ... but ... but...!
You and I can make a difference! But it's not our strength that we go in, so much as in WHO is sending us! God said to Gideon "Am I not sending you?" That was what made him a mighty warrior. "I AM" was sending him. None other than the great I AM. The same one who sent Moses, the same one who sent Joshua. I AM was now sending Gideon.
What about you today? Is God, the great I AM sending you? Or are you going on your own?
Today as Christians we have the privilege of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of "I AM" with us day by day. What exploits does He want you to do today? Where is He sending you?
Consider not the magnitude of the task, but rather the magnitude of the One who is sending you.
Go and the great I AM will turn, even you, into a mighty warrior for His Name's sake. AMEN!
