This month I want us to look at why we are still on earth! We are not in Heaven yet - we are destined to go there - and many of us would like to go there quickly (be it to escape the present, be released from the pain experienced on earth or just out of an overwhelming desire to "be with Jesus"). So why can't we go there straight away once we have become a Christian? Maybe there is still something for me to do or become on earth. Let's together have a look at what we are here for... |

THE STONES WILL CRY OUT!
Awesome thought that isn't it!
Here is Jesus entering the City of the Great King. Zion. The disciples and followers prophetically shouting out their worship and the religious leaders who should have been "showing the way", tell Jesus to get them to stop it.
To me, Jesus' reply was in a sense, less of a rebuke but more a mere statement of options! In other words "you have a choice - do you want my disciples to do it or would you prefer the stones to do so?"
In a way it is impossible to embarrass Jesus because He is Creator God. We try and use our puny finite minds to "control Him" and He "smiles benignly" and says, "which option do you want?"
I believe that we are in an era, where if we are not careful, we may very well hear the stones cry out to our shame and humiliation. In Psalm 148 the Psalmist tries to remind us that the ability to "Praise God" is not unique to the human race. All of God's creation can praise him. All of creation, including man, will "praise Him".
For the moment we have an option, either it is "now OR later", or it is "now AND later!" Which choice is yours?
God told Job that the stars sang together - stones crying out would be just as natural!
One of the "jobs" I believe I have on this earth is to "stop the stones having to cry out!"
Balaam's donkey spoke and put him to shame. Oh may it never happen to us that because of our silence the stones around us cry out!
Let's rather have that lifestyle which "proclaims" the goodness of the Lord and shares it with others.
