Exodus 19:6
YOU WILL BE FOR ME A KINGDOM OF PRIESTS
Did you know this came from Exodus, or did you, like most folk, think it was only mentioned in Revelation 1?
Here we are again with another thread, which runs through the whole Bible, from the second book, Exodus, to the last book, Revelation! It's also there in 1 Peter 2:9.
God said this even after the people had grumbled at the Red Sea; at the bitter waters of Marah; at the lack of food; and at the lack of water! Do you get the point? Here we have another glimpse of the Eternal Plan of our Almighty God. He had always intended that we should be a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. This wasn't just His desire after Calvary - this was His desire from the very beginning. This wasn't for just after Pentecost; this was prior to the giving of the Law!
"Out of all the nations, you will be my treasured possession. - (Who said God has no favourites??) Although the whole earth is Mine - you will be for Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation."
Just imagine it. Your people had been slaves for nearly 400 years. Pain and despair had been constant companions. Now through the mercy and miracle working power of God, not only have you been set free, but experienced the parting of the Red Sea; the death and destruction of the Egyptian Army; the healing of the bitter waters; the miraculous provision of the Mana and Quails; and water pouring from the desert rock and above all that, God then says "You will be My treasured possession - a kingdom of priests and a holy nation - separated out for Me and Me alone."
How would you have felt - as Moses - as one of the Children of Israel? Special? Humble? Grateful? Joyful?
Listen - God says exactly the same to YOU today. Whoever, you are, wherever you are, listen. God's Eternal Heart is still the same - He doesn't change - He still thinks you are special - His treasured possession.
He has set YOU apart, to be a part of His Kingdom of Priests - His Holy Nation.
