PREACH THE WORD... IN SEASON AND OUT OF SEASON
Was it not Billy Bray of Cornwall, England who said, in about the 19th Century - "shut me up in a barrel and I'll shout Hallelujah through the bung hole!"?
He had got it bad hadn't he? What about you? What about me? Does the Word permeate your heart, mind and soul? Is reaching the lost the 'main' thing in your life?
I'm still amazed how many Christians I meet; never seem to be able to 'get around' to talking about Jesus to other Christians let alone the unchurched. I know others who can only talk to Christians. I have enough trouble understanding their language, how an unchurched person is going to cope I can't imagine!
Are you ready "off the cuff"? We've all experienced those folk who came to our doors trying to persuade us to get involved with their religion. So often if you can eventually get them off their preset rails - they are dumbfounded and incapable of conversation.
Are we like that? Or are we ready to 'shoot' as soon as the real opportunity arises. If someone says, "I don't believe in God" - Would you know what to say?
If they said, "All Christians are hypocrites" would you be able to reply - "Well, with so few people in churches these days there must be a whole lot more outside than in the church!"
Yes, we need to preach the Word in season and out, but let's do so in a relevant way so that Jesus is lifted up so that He can draw all men to Him.
If you don't feel you can - may I encourage you to start with your Christian friends - it's a good foundation for those other friends who may not be Christians yet!
Be a good 'boy scout' - BE PREPARED!
(Otherwise go hide in a barrel and close the bunghole!)
