THE CITY DOES NOT NEED THE SUN OR MOON FOR THE GLORY OF GOD GIVES IT LIGHT AND THE LAMB IS ITS LAMP
How are you coping with this new paradigm?
The old order has certainly passed away hasn't it! So much of our lives is dominated by the sun and moon. We rise with the sun and sleep when it goes down. If we can see and feel it, we are happy - if it is hidden by clouds, mist, fog or pollution we become depressed.
The phases of the moon rule the seas and the tides and we can either set sail or stay at home; we can either cross the bar or have to wait for the next spring tide.
Our earth's relationship to the sun also governs our seasons from winter through spring, summer and autumn. That governs the growing season and harvest. Man has achieved much in the agricultural side of creation but the sun and moon still govern so much of our lives. I'm sure scientists could well increase on what I've already said too.
But Heaven is not dominated by the created sun but by The Son. Every day will be dominated by Him.
Interesting isn't it? We can get used to that down here! That's how the Kingdom of Heaven comes to earth. I submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ - I become dominated by The Son down here and when I get to Heaven there will be little change because I will still submit to His Lordship forever!
Did you also notice Psalm 119 says "your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path"? John says, "the Lamb is its lamp." Jesus is both the Word made flesh and the Lamb of God. No wonder He said, "My words will never pass away." The everlasting word is also the everlasting lamp!
The glory of God is its light. God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all. We have no concept of the glory of God, but think of it this way. If we are unable to look directly into the sun because it is so bright and God created the sun, how much brighter is His glory? We can only cope with it if we have new eyes - and we will! We shall see His glory in all its splendour!
You can be sure of it; the city won't need the sun or moon!
