THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY AND THE LAMB ARE ITS TEMPLE
David helps us here.
In Psalm 122, he says, "I rejoiced with those who said to me 'let us go to the house of the Lord'". The Temple.
Psalm 84 says, "How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord Almighty. My soul yearns even faints for the courts of the Lord ... even a sparrow has found a home. Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God."
Asaph in Psalm 73 said that he was wondering why evil men seemed to be getting away with it - "until I entered the sanctuary of God; then I realised their final destiny."
Read also Psalm 63 where David is in the desert of Judah "O God, you are my God - my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you.... I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory". Read all the Psalm - it's only eleven verses. He and Asaph give us a glimpse of what is to come!
Just imagine it. The Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. We get excited when our team wins at soccer, football or cricket. New Zealand rejoiced at winning the America's Cup. The streets lined with people for the tickertape parade in all the major cities. How excited are you about going up to THE TEMPLE? Not to a film star, not to a sports winner, not to a political leader, not to an earthly monarch. We are going up to THE TEMPLE! The Temple of the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb.
Shut your eyes for a moment. What a thrill to be in the presence of Jesus - in all His glory. Add to that the awesomeness of His Father, and our Father, His God and our God. Their arms outstretched to you, saying "Come, peace be to you. Be not afraid - come."
Come into the very Holy of Holies - not the earthly replica but the Heavenly original. Where there is always a welcome. Always time for you.
My friend - you are not insignificant - you are welcome to come to the Temple, the ultimate presence of the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb.
What more could you ever possibly wish for?
