CAST ALL YOUR ANXIETY ON HIM FOR HE CARES FOR YOU
Ever doubted it?
Oh, we wouldn't admit it, would we? But did we? Wasn't there that time when instead of the "peace" of God we were in "pieces"? Heaven's gates were like brass; the mist was thick all around us; we were no longer in control of our circumstances and there we were between the Red Sea and the Egyptian chariots!
I've been there, so I know. But isn't it in that very last moment, when we are about to cross out the verse or rip the page from our Bible that suddenly the mist clears, the Red Sea has parted, we are dry footed on the other side and the Egyptian chariots are beginning to disappear beneath the returning flood? Why then do we doubt?
We've been this way before and in the end it was "sweet" and yet right now that is just a faded memory and the present is frighteningly real.
Peter was not writing to those who, like us, have small trials and troubles; he was writing to people in severe tribulation. Their lives were "on the line". It was a day of martyrs and lions. It was a day when Christians suffering for their faith was commonplace. Yet even through that dangerous and fearful time, he writes to his readers "Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you."
He remembered how Jesus said, "aren't you worth more than sparrows and yet your Heavenly Father knows if even one of those dies?"
Whenever you are about to give up - remember those times when "God came through for you".
Remember too, that once you have cast your anxiety on Him, He expects you to leave it there and not to take it back!
He is the burden-bearer not you!
Go on - give it to Him - ALL OF IT - today, and accept His peace and joy in return.
