August Topic: Security, Significance and Self-worth |
We all need to come back to basics from time to time and what better time to do it than now. Let's spend this month together reminding ourselves of those important issues which make up some of the foundation of our Christian relationship with God and our walk with Him. |
Jude 24
TO HIM WHO IS ABLE TO KEEP YOU FROM FALLING
The promise to end all promises!
I love this verse. When you look around and evil seems to be triumphing all around you; when you see the potential of persecution and begin to panic saying "will I let My Master down?" When the prophets are warning of 666 and the serious implications of submission and denial, its time to run to this verse!
This is a threefold promise. Let's look at them one by one. "To Him who is able to keep you from falling". In my own strength, yes, I would fall - but He is able to keep me from falling - not once, not twice but to keep on keeping me from falling. Isn't that good news?
"To present you before His glorious Presence without fault". Hey, I look at my life and see failure, selfishness, pride, arrogance, independence and faithlessness. He looks at me covered by the Blood of Jesus and I am spotless. There is no fault now, nor when He presents me to His Father.
"And with great joy." Do you remember the movie 'The Sound of Music'? The Admiral went away leaving Maria in charge of the children. He unexpectedly returns home early with the Baroness, his potential fiancé. First, he sees his children hanging upside down from the trees in the avenue, dressed in no less than clothing made from their bedroom drapes and then secondly, to cap it all - they all arrive 'back at the ranch' via a boat. They are so excited at seeing him that they capsize the boat, and get soaked to the skin 'in preparation' of being presented to their new mother.
Do you remember his response? With pride he announces, "Children meet the Baroness!" Then in utter humiliation and disdain he turns to the Baroness and says reluctantly " and these are my children!" No joy, just total dismay and shame. But it wont be like that for us! We will be presented without fault, yes, but even more than that - WITH GREAT JOY!
Can you visualise it?
"Father, look these are My friends - aren't they great? Now You can see and understand why I died for them. Now You know how great, successful and perfect was Your plan of salvation. It worked! It WAS worth it after all." "Welcome, My friends, welcome. Welcome into the joy of your Lord."
Meditate on this today. Let it sink into your soul.
JESUS IS AS EXCITED ABOUT YOU, AS FATHER IS ABOUT JESUS!
