WE WILL COME TO HIM AND MAKE OUR HOME WITH HIM
Have you 'twigged' (understood) yet, that God is into obedience?
I've tried very hard to make the point, because it is so important - vital in fact. Jesus said, "If any one loves Me, he will OBEY MY teaching. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and MAKE OUR HOME WITH HIM." Do you obey? If not, this doesn't apply to you - simple isn't it?
If you do, YOU will experience EMMANUEL - God with us! God is looking for obedient disciples. No, not people who will just give mental assent; not those who will 'run with it' for a while or until it becomes inconvenient, embarrassing or too tough - people who are 'sold out' to Him, totally obedient in their heart and lives.
O.K. they are not perfect - they still make mistakes; they still 'blow it' from time to time but did you notice I said 'in their hearts.' In other words - the deepest longing in their heart is to truly and fully follow Jesus.
They are 'sold out' to Him and to the best of their ability they follow in devoted obedience to Jesus. The promise is for them. The promise is for you too. If... then... "We will come to him and make OUR home with him." Notice that it is more than just a passing phase. We will 'take up residence.' We will 'put our feet up/under the table.' We will relax in your company, become more than guests. We will become family!
Do you desire an intimate relationship with God? The Good News is He did before you did! You can have that intimate relationship with Him but it requires obedience. The 'trouble' with having an intimate relationship with God is that when He comes in, He starts 'making Himself at home.' Changes have to be made to accommodate Him! He will 'rattle the bars' in order to set you free. He will 'break out of the mould' to make your life more vibrant and exciting. He will expose the 'skeletons in the cupboards' to rid your life of fear.
If you are not obedient to His Word, life will be most unpleasant, because then you live in and with guilt, fear and defeat!
If you love Him and seek to follow Him by being 'sold out' to Him - it will be the greatest adventure you could ever imagine.
Go on, invite Him in - try it!
