THE LORD HAS LAID ON HIM THE INIQUITY OF US ALL
Have you ever experienced that fabulous feeling of freedom?
Maybe you've been on a beautiful beach on your own, and you've been able to run, jump, or dance knowing that you could let all your inhibitions go because you knew you were on your own and free to do whatever you liked. Maybe it was that cool refreshing breeze that blew across your face on that sun scorching summer's day. Or maybe it was that cold energising shower, washing off all the dust and grime of the week's trek.
Whatever the circumstances, the feeling you got was a tremendous release in your spirit and you felt "special and revitalised".
This verse gives me the same feeling but in a greater dimension. What about you? When you read it, do you feel "released", "special", "forgiven and set free"? Because that is exactly what God intended!
I remember once being asked to spend time completing a survey. It took up about an hour of my valuable time but I was promised a free gift for my trouble, so I accepted! When the free gift arrived, I was pleased to see it was a book, a thriller. I don't seem to have much time to read fiction and when I do I like a good thriller to escape into, so I was really looking forward to reading it.
That was until I read the very first page. I have never read such blatant depravity. Where the author thought that lot up from I can't imagine. I only know its home was in The Pit. I felt absolutely filthy and I fell on my knees and asked the Lord to cleanse me in the Blood of the Lamb - to be washed completely clean and for my mind to be purified and my memory erased.
It happened, even as I prayed. Why?
Because the Lord has laid on Him, Jesus, the iniquity of us all.
Paul called himself the worst of sinners, but even he could rejoice. Why? Because the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
It includes me, it includes you, it includes your family, neighbours, colleagues at work and at sport.
Why not tell them about it and let them experience a breath of fresh air?
