This month I want us to look at why we are still on earth! We are not in Heaven yet - we are destined to go there - and many of us would like to go there quickly (be it to escape the present, be released from the pain experienced on earth or just out of an overwhelming desire to "be with Jesus"). So why can't we go there straight away once we have become a Christian? Maybe there is still something for me to do or become on earth. Let's together have a look at what we are here for... |

GOD ... ACCEPTS MEN FROM EVERY NATION
I love living in New Zealand at the moment.
Why? Because it's about as far away from Israel as you can get. In fact, I am told the furthest city from Jerusalem is Christchurch, New Zealand.
I can believe that because it sounds to me just like God - to name the city furthest from Jerusalem after his Son and Bride - CHRIST - CHURCH!
Ironic isn't it, that man didn't even know it at the time!
I love Jerusalem. I love Israel. Having had the joy and privilege to go, like most Christians who have been, I have left something there of my heart and gained so much in culture and understanding since immersing myself in them.
So why do I love being in New Zealand? Because the Lord has sent me here to be a missionary? Yes, but also because there are so many Scriptures about the furthest places on earth, honouring Him; about the islands praising the Lord; about the uttermost ends of the earth giving Him glory, and like this one - God accepts men from every nation. Even the one furthest away!
I see it like this. If God accepts those of us in New Zealand, then He must accept everyone else! Now change that "if" to "since". Since God accepts men from New Zealand He must accept men from everywhere else!
Here is the Good News - God has accepted me, He has accepted New Zealanders - so He will accept you too, through faith in the same Lord Jesus Christ.
Not only that, but wherever you "go" with the gospel - He will accept them.
Peter was referring to Roman Gentiles - he had no idea New Zealand would exist and yet his words of prophecy are our promise.
God accepts men (and women) from every nation. Hallelujah!
