June Topic: FAITH (for without faith it is impossible to please God) |
This month let's have a look at how we can please God and at the same time experience the dynamic power of God which will make our Christianity very exciting and totally contagious! |
Hebrews 11:35
THAT THEY MIGHT GAIN A BETTER RESURRECTION
One problem I have with most of my charismatic brothers is that they seem to think that the power of God will really have come when they go to a cemetery, morgue or funeral and the dead person/people is/are brought back to life.
'We' are into miracles, signs and wonders and when that happens - Man! That is the ultimate. Awesome.
Well I'm sorry I don't agree. I cannot for the life of me see the point of bringing a Christian back to life. As I have said to my friends - if I am dying of a heart attack - LET ME GO! Kindly don't pray for me to stay!
You see, my destiny is Heaven and provided the Lord feels I've completed my work I have no desire to stay back. This earthly life, which we live here, is NOT the end. There is a Heaven and that is our destiny. As has been said - if a gunman points his loaded weapon at me, I'll smile and say "Go on, make my day!"
Yes, we are all finite and unless the Lord returns beforehand we will die. But I would rather die in Jesus and know that I have a 'better resurrection' before then - than frustrate His will and buy back my earthly life for a few more days, months or years.
Jesus said, "Don't be afraid of those who kill the body but can't kill the soul. Rather be afraid of the One who can destroy both body and soul in Hell."
But surely a resurrection is the greatest miracle? Is it? What did Jesus say to the rich man, when he asked Jesus to send Lazarus back from the dead to warn his brothers of the reality of Hell? Jesus replied "If they do not listen to Moses and prophets they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead" Luke 16:27-31. (And remember Jesus did - but what difference has that made to so many unbelievers?)
So what is the greatest miracle? Salvation is! Why? Because the person who is saved is changed from going to Hell to going to Heaven. They permanently leave the kingdom of darkness and are translated into the Kingdom of Light - from the captivity of satan to the Freedom of the Son of God. That is why the angels rejoice - because it is the greatest miracle of all!
Tell me, which is the greatest resurrection for you?
Go for the better resurrection!
