January Topic: OBEDIENCE IS GREATER THAN SACRIFICE |
Of all the things I have had to learn over the length of my lifetime - this is the most important. If we don't get this right, the rest is impossible. So let's spend this first month of the year getting our priorities in the correct order. |
John 21:22
YOU MUST FOLLOW ME
"What about him?" "What about him?" "YOU must follow Me!"
Why is it that we are so prone to try and compare ourselves with others? Even as Christians? We compare church size, denomination size, their ministry, their giftings, their ... Why?
Because, like Peter, we have an insecurity problem which can only be met in Christ Jesus.
We've reached the end of January - have your resolutions stayed or got lost in history? Do you want to change your goals because someone else has got similar or better ones? Who will you emulate this year? Which "great speakers" will you rush to hear?
Listen, stop, re-evaluate where you are at and get back on track. You must follow Jesus. Not the cell group leader, not the Pastor, not the International speaker, Jesus! He says it to you, just as He did to Peter. YOU MUST FOLLOW ME!
Forget everyone else; even throw this book away if it is getting in the way of you following Jesus.
Jesus wants you to do one thing well. Not lots of things, not major world shattering deeds, but do one thing really well. What is that one thing? Follow Me!
As you reach the end of each day and again at the end of each week and once more at the end of each month, ask yourself the question "Have I followed Jesus?"
And then determine to do it closer next time for when all is said and done - Jesus said:
YOU MUST FOLLOW ME!
YOU must follow me!
You MUST follow me!
You must FOLLOW me!
You must follow ME!
