Psalm 103:3
HE HEALS ALL MY DISEASES...
Does He?
What about all the sicknesses in the world then? If He heals all my diseases, how come I get colds, fevers, chicken pox and the like? What about all those that die because of cancer, AIDS etc?
First of all, any and all those that get healed from these and all other diseases, get healed by the Lord, whether through sleep, natural progression, medicine, chemotherapy, surgery or miracle - God, alone, is our Healer. Any and all healing that ever occurs is because God is our Healer.
But we do need to read the verse in context. David is looking beyond the natural to the spiritual. I suffer disease because of the Fall. There are no diseases in the Presence of God. If we can get back to where we were before the Fall, then there would be no disease either. How do I get back? I get back by coming back into a living vital relationship with God. He has provided all I need. He is my All in All.
If I am in a right relationship with God, not only will I have no disease (And this will be eternally true in Heaven) - but also for now, He will be my Healer.
Matthew Henry says, "God is a complete God. Our crimes were capital, but God saves our lives by pardoning them. Our diseases were mortal, but God saves our lives by healing them." God reverses all that the enemy does, all that the Fall reserved for us.
Not all diseases are ours because of our sin, but a lot are! Sexual impurity and deviation bring their own rewards, as do excesses in alcohol, drugs, smoking and eating etc. Those of us, who are saved, the Christians, will not indulge in such things and will thus be healed.
Unforgiveness in my heart brings bitterness, which can produce hypertension, arthritis and other disorders. If I forgive as Jesus forgave me, I will be healed - or live in health! Paul says in 1 Corinthians 11 that some were sick because they treated the 'Lords' Supper' lightly - made it profane, common. I need therefore to repent and be healed. Our lifestyle can bring disease upon us.
Jesus said, "Take My yoke upon you, for My yoke is easy and My burden is light." We are then healed. If our burden is heavy it is not what God wants us to do!
Jesus has the power to heal ALL our diseases and if we live, as He requires, we will be spared so many, though not necessarily all.
