February Topic: WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING |
This month I want us to look at why we are still on earth! We are not in Heaven yet - we are destined to go there - and many of us would like to go there quickly (be it to escape the present, be released from the pain experienced on earth or just out of an overwhelming desire to "be with Jesus"). So why can't we go there straight away once we have become a Christian? Maybe there is still something for me to do or become on earth. Let's together have a look at what we are here for... |
Luke 12:8
IF YOU ACKNOWLEDGE ME BEFORE MEN
We are saved through faith not works!
But Jesus is quite emphatic here. Whoever acknowledges Me before men I will acknowledge before the angels of God. But he who disowns Me before man will be disowned before the angels of God.
Jesus was not interested in wimps! It is time to put backbone back into our Christianity! For too long it has been an easy ride. I'll follow Jesus as long as everything works out all right, and I can carry on exactly what I'm doing now without (His) interference. I'll accept the salvation Jesus offers so I'm "saved" for the future but right now I've got a pretty full schedule and I can do without any embarrassments, like having to "defend" my beliefs and be a "pro-active" Christian. If it really comes to the crunch, I'll make my "stand" then.
Will you? Will you really? Or is it more likely that your witness for Jesus will be so small and "invisible" that either you will never be put to the test "because they didn't suspect you of being a Christian" or your resolve will become so weak that when a test comes there is nothing left to stand up for?
Where ARE you in the commitment stakes? Do you "dodge" the issues when Christianity is under exposure, censure or trial? Do you adopt the peaceful silent stance while all the time your conscience is getting challenged and sends out messages you prefer to ignore? Evil triumphs because good men are silent.
What about you? Or do you constantly adopt the "shotgun" approach? Fire off your "religious" shots in all directions and send everyone ducking for cover.
Try and keep an even keel! The Holy Spirit will prompt you when you need to speak and He'll tell you what to say. All you need to do is - do it.
Tell me - will Jesus be acknowledging you before the angels of God?
