Judges 2:7
THE PEOPLE SERVED THE LORD THROUGH THE LIFETIME OF JOSHUA
Why? Because he KNEW His God!
Not only that but he demonstrated that he knew his God by his lifestyle. It was infectious, contagious, and attractive. It was challenging too! Joshua wasn't someone you would meddle with! You couldn't come out with carnal theories before him and expect to get away with it. He was "sold out" to God and people knew it.
It wouldn't necessarily make him the most popular person on the block but if he said something you listened, and if he talked about God, you knew what he said was right and not worthy of question. He was a man of integrity and spiritual backbone.
What about you? Do your friends and family know that you are 'sold out' to God? Oh, you may think you are, but do they? Not a religious freak throwing religious jargon and legalism at them all the time, but someone who allows the Holy Spirit to 'shine Jesus' out of you to all those around.
Are you attractive because of your solid faith in your Loving Saviour or do you distance yourself by your unholy religiosity? Is the peace of God a hallmark of your presence or are you so worldly the people don't even know you once knew Jesus?
Most of the rest of Judges is a sad and sorry tale of the people of God who forsook their God because they didn't know Him or experience Him.
What sort of legacy will you leave? One like Joshua - that because your walk with Jesus is so obviously rich and fulfilling, the people you know, your family and your relatives will serve God throughout your lifetime, and theirs?
Oh, that that, might be my legacy too!
