Judges 4:5
THE ISRAELITES CAME TO (DEBORAH) TO HAVE THEIR DISPUTES DECIDED
God uses men and women.
Throughout the Bible God gives us glimpses of those women who through their love for Him and humility, He uses for His glory. That the Holy, Almighty God should use a man or woman is only by His grace, but God did make Adam first and Eve to be his helper. Ever since then, however, we seem to be able to trace the fact that when God seeks for a man to do His will and He can't find or use one, He turns to find the right woman. A 'woman', may I say, doing a 'man's' job?
I say this not in any derogatory way but to emphasise:
a) How much the men had failed and
b) How much of a 'woman' Deborah was.
I believe the West is suffering the same disease. Why are there more women missionaries than men? Why are men 'threatened' by the ordination of women? Why was Mrs Thatcher so successful?
Because our 'men' are NOT 'living up to their calling.' That is why it is so refreshing and exciting to see a 'move' such as Promise Keepers, encouraging Christian men to live up to their calling. It is any wonder that 'Promise Keepers' wives are delighted? Suddenly the God-ordained delegated authority for the family 'the father', fulfils the role God intended. What happens next? The wife feels fulfilled and is able to be released into being the 'princess' God has anointed and called her to be - let alone the natural helper she was created to be.
Are you married? If you are, have you released your wife to be the 'princess' God anointed her to be? If not, do it now, and become a real man!
Are you a Deborah? If God has called you to be one, there's nothing at all to be ashamed of. Go in the anointing of God and be the 'channel' He requires to exalt Jesus, so that all 'men' will be drawn to Him. Thank Him for His love and grace and continue to seek His wisdom and will for your life.
