This month I want us to look at why we are still on earth! We are not in Heaven yet - we are destined to go there - and many of us would like to go there quickly (be it to escape the present, be released from the pain experienced on earth or just out of an overwhelming desire to "be with Jesus"). So why can't we go there straight away once we have become a Christian? Maybe there is still something for me to do or become on earth. Let's together have a look at what we are here for... |

THE HARVEST IS PLENTIFUL...
If it was then, it must surely be "ripe" now!
Oh that we really did, by faith, look through God's eyes upon this world. We would, I'm sure, see things so differently. My Christian heritage was immersed in the view that the "world" was a terrible place and the best thing we could do was walk away and hide as much as possible. No one thought of "changing" the world. That was left to the evil men who did just that.
Oh yes we held our "Gospel" services but we usually preached to the converted; evaluated the preacher - who was often "found wanting" and would have been astounded if someone had actually "got saved"! We got "sucked in" to the mindset, that all you need be is "faithful".
Jesus told his disciples "I will make you fishers of men". I'm no fisherman - I don't have the patience for it - but I've watched some who are and guess what - they catch fish. The fish are there for the harvesting - some throw a line, some throw a net and some trawl. I'm for the trawlers!
May I just quickly change the analogy to farming? Jesus said the fields are ripe, white for harvest. If that is true - and as Jesus said it, it must be - we need to get our act together.
I believe the Lord said to me "Stop praying for the harvest - it's already there. Pray for reapers and go get it in!" If we are to impact this world and bring in the harvest which is there for the glory of our crucified Christ, then we are not going to get very far using sickles - which appears to be what we are doing at present.
We have to go, find and "fire up" the combine harvesters and start moving across this world.
Will you join me in praying that the Lord will identify the "combine harvesters", anoint them with His Spirit and cause them to reap their way across the nations?
