Acts 20:24
...THE GOSPEL OF GOD'S GRACE
Paul said, " I consider my life worth nothing to me; if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me - the task of testifying to the Gospel of God's grace."
Paul was a man with a mission.
God had given him his mission and he was out to complete it whatever the cost to himself. Salvation is free to receive but as someone said "It costs nothing to become a Christian but the annual subscription is everything you are and everything you've got."
His race, his task, his testifying would never get him into Heaven. That is not the issue. He knew he was saved by grace through faith alone, but he also knew that he had been saved for a purpose. Not to sit back with a ticket to Heaven in his pocket guaranteeing his entry, as so many of us seem to act, but the cost of his salvation required that he lay down his life in love and devotion to Him who first loved him and longs that everyone everywhere comes into the same knowledge and relationship.
Paul knew that God had 'bent over backwards' to reach and save him and so his task was to share that good news with every one else. He knew that God's grace had reached - almost its apex - when he the murderer of the followers of "The Way" - was totally forgiven and his crimes absolved. He called himself the "chief of sinners", and so had the unique right and opportunity to explain and proclaim the grace of God.
In other words he could stand up and say "Hey, look at me - understand my past and realise this - if I, with all my sin and shame can be forgiven and set free, then there is no barrier for you. If God accepts me through His grace - it is big enough for everyone."
What about you? Have you really come to know the freedom, which comes with the grace of God? No matter who you are or what you have done, God's grace is big enough to include and forgive you. Now, that has to be Good News!
When you know it - your task is to testify to the Gospel of God's grace to others.
