Romans 10:14
HOW CAN THEY CALL ON ONE THEY HAVE NOT BELIEVED
It's only blasphemy or at best taking the Name of the Lord in vain.
Oh yes, people use Jesus' Name in swearing every day - but that doesn't mean they believe in the Name. Even the demons believe and tremble.
No, this is more than that. They need to call in knowledge of One in whom they have some trust however small. I heard a lady preacher once talking of Abraham and his life and I have been challenged by it more than once.
She made the observation that Hagar; Sarah's maid would probably have been a princess of Egypt - not a mere slave girl. When Abraham was in Egypt he had been highly honoured by Pharaoh and they knew how beautiful Sarah was. The probability was that in an age of "marriages of convenience", Pharaoh would have given Abraham one of his daughters as a present to establish peace between them.
Ishmael then, was not born of a mere "poor slave" but of a "princess". In Genesis 16 v 11 we read God named the child Ishmael which means "God hears". What does God hear? He hears those who call on Him.
The preacher went on to say - that is why it is so important for us to reach out to those caught in Islam because if they will only "call out" God will hear and they will be saved. Islam is not to be feared.
No, those in Islam need to be freed. How can that happen? It happens as soon as they call out because God has promised them "God hears".
How can they call on one they have not believed?
