He has taken me to the banquet hall, and His banner over me is Love.
This is another hallmark of God.
A ‘Ring of Truth’ that runs throughout Scripture. God is a good God. He does not treat us as we deserve but in mercy and love. Jesus, ‘our Lover’, not only reaches down to rescue us from the pit we find ourselves in, but died to set our feet on the high rock of victory. But He didn’t stop there either. As Paul reminds us, “(He) has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing” (Ephesians 1:3).
Yes, He has done even more. He has brought us, not to our banquet table with its poor fare, but to His “banquet hall”. It is the “banquet hall” of a King. There are no deficiencies here – but the very richest of fare – everything we could ever need or desire – yes, it is far more abundant than we could ever ask, think, dream or imagine (see Ephesians 3:20–21). God is a generous God. He is neither stingy nor restricted.
He is extravagant and all-powerful. He gives us “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (Galatians 5:22). He gives us release from the past and from every feeling of guilt for sin. He gives us victory over every bondage. He spreads before us lavishly, His unconditional love and daily forgiveness.
Yes, the very “banner over” everything He does is “love” – unconditional love – undying love – unmerited love – everlasting love. Nothing can ever separate us from the love of God. Read what Paul says, “(Nothing) will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:31–39).
Do you believe that? Let me encourage you today. It is not up to you. It is not up to your belief system, it is not up to your feelings or emotions – it is fact, based upon the Character and Word of God, which are totally changeless.
No matter how you may be feeling; no matter what the circumstances are that surround you or trouble you today – God wants to take you to His “banquet hall” and engulf you with His love.
God is still on the throne. He hasn’t abdicated. He hasn’t forgotten you, abandoned you or stopped loving you. He is on your side, wanting His very best for you.
Stop right now and reach out to Him. Tell Him how you really feel. Let out every emotion and thought and feeling, then allow the healing power of God to wash over you in forgiveness, and start a deep inner healing, which will not cease until you are totally restored in Him.
“His banner over (you – today) is LOVE”.
