Genesis 1:26
"LET US MAKE MAN"
Here we have recorded the very first conversation!
The rest of Genesis 1 seems to be a series of commands. Here by inference we have a conversation - albeit one sided! "Let US" - not an individual thought but more a rhetorical question - "Why don't we make man?" maybe.
In some ways, we are going to learn more about the heart of God this month, than in any other month we have spent together so far this year. Right here, before us today, we have an incredible glimpse into the very heart of God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - The Trinity.
Our God decided He wanted to create man; to extend heaven to earth; to create more than angels, and yet in some ways lower than angels. Nevertheless, He was to extend His Company! God who is complete in His love, in His generosity and extravagance decided to share all He is with 'new' creatures. Man.
Some feel that man was God's greatest creation because it happened on Day 6. Certainly he has proved to be one of God's most dangerous creations!
But God's heart was not to make him dangerous but divine - like God - capable of the highest form of love, devotion, faithfulness, responsibility, trustworthiness and above all else creativity. Go forth and multiply! That would mean 'creating' another human being. Only human beings under the mighty hand of God could create other human beings through natural sexual relationship and intercourse. There is no other way and God entrusted it to us.
Why? Because He wanted fellowship; He wanted an intimate, close, open, uninhibited, unconditional loving relationship with us - just like the one He was giving to us right from the start.
He still desires it for us. He wants us to experience it on a human level between ourselves, but more than that He desires the same between us and Him. He still longs that you and I develop an intimate, deep, uninhibited, loving relationship with Him.
It is possible! It starts at the Cross, where Jesus died to open up the way. It continues with the indwelling of His Holy Spirit who brings sanctification and bonding.
God is holding out open arms to you today - will you run straight into them and -
