What's your name? What does it mean?
I've been very interested to note of late how appropriate a lot of "Peters" have been named! As I read more and more about Peter, I see the same characteristics in these "modern" Peters.
Jesus had a destiny. From the moment He was born every minute of His day was mapped out. It was a rich tapestry of service, teaching, sharing, helping, encouraging and being obedient. Each day seemed leading towards a goal, which His disciples thought they had guessed correctly only to find that their expectations were totally wrong.
Was the tapestry wrong? No, the tapestry looked wonderful and beautiful all the way through but they had "misread" the climax. The "glorious ending" they saw was far too pale and insignificant for what the Father had planned. It wasn't until the depths of the darkness had been woven that the true brightness of eternal glory could at last be revealed and the splendour of the whole grasped.
How true of our lives too! God is in the process of weaving the tapestry of your life and maybe you can only see the individual strands and the overall impression is drab and insignificant. Wait! Wait until the Master weaver has finished His selection of colours and His work.
Provided you "rest in Him, being obedient to the prompting of His Holy Spirit", then in the end, you will stand back and see it all as He sees it, in all its glory - reflecting His Son!
You have a destiny - just like Jesus. Keep on the path, walk with your hand in His hand and let Him fulfil the desires of His heart in your life.
The tapestry, at the end, will be beyond your wildest dreams!
