THEN I SAW A NEW HEAVEN AND A NEW EARTH
This month I want to take a look at our future destiny.
It is necessary at this time of the year to remember we are but pilgrims on a journey. Earth is not our goal. Whilst we have eternal life now, we are destined for even better things.
We have looked at the Lordship of Christ on earth in our lives, the death of Christ and His resurrection - they are historical facts - we now as it were pan around to the future. The goal of our lives. The reason we are sojourners passing through - like Jesus, we have a mission on earth - but like Jesus too, there is "another place where we belong."
The power to persevere is strengthened by the sure knowledge that there is a reason to overcome; there is a light at the end of the tunnel; there is a better place by far, which is ours if we "hold on." Better still, we advance in the total confidence that there are better things to come. Paul says, "we see as in a mirror darkly... but then face to face."
Those of us, who know Jesus, can fully enjoy the creation in which we live and the thrill of a vibrant intimate relationship with God NOW but that just reaffirms that the future will be even more terrific.
God is omnipotent - all powerful - if He could create this world, which man has spoiled so there are many imperfections, then our God is able to produce a new heaven and a new earth which will defy description in its splendour and exceed even the most vivid and creative imagination.
Take heart my friend; the best is yet to come. Lift your eyes to the heavens - if they are greater than this earth in vastness just think how great will be the new heaven and new earth.
We are ON OUR WAY! Our destiny is fixed! The tickets are paid for!
The King is on His way to get us. The clock is ticking away.
Can you feel it getting nearer? Are you ready?
If not, get as ready as you can! For if you know, love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ - you WILL see them!
