THE FIRST HEAVEN AND THE FIRST EARTH HAD PASSED AWAY
The sentence has been handed down!
Don't get too attached to this earth - it has to pass away. Yes, we can enjoy our time here but this isn't the be all and end all of our existence. We have been born for a far greater experience.
The good news is, that all we experience here, of the effects of sin, corruption and evil is passing away - not just put to one side but completely destroyed - purified by fire.
When geologists tell us that carbon based fuels are becoming exhausted; our natural forests are being destroyed at phenomenal rates, such that the earth is no less than being raped; when we are told that the seas' stocks of fish are declining at alarming rates, where once there were uncountable shoals, today there are just the ones and twos; when the ozone layer is found not only to have a hole made in it but that it could be irreversible.
When there are more desert places in the world today than in centuries ago; where famines increase and disease is destroying more and more people and there appears to be no remedy in sight - be encouraged - this world is destined to pass away - however, it will be in God's timing and in God's way, not by man nor satan.
Even the threat of nuclear war should have no effect on us. Man, encouraged by satan, may wish to destroy life, himself and this earth but he is still in God's hands, and he can do nothing that God doesn't allow. And regardless - it is to be destroyed anyway. That is not to give "licence" to man - he was given "trusteeship" by God and remains accountable to Him for it - but the fact remains - this world, this heaven and earth - will pass away.
Don't hold on to it too tightly!
Take heart, what is to follow, is fresh clean and sin free!
