WITHOUT FAITH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE GOD
Do you really want to please God?
Most Christians seem to want God to please them. Christianity is really just an add-on to their normal life. If you took away their Christianity there would be very few changes. We have such a developed society, culture and "rat race" that God is lucky to get a tenth of our money let alone a tenth of our time and energy. Oh, yes, we glibly quote Romans 12:1 and say that we are living sacrifices to God but are we honestly? Haven't we "crawled off the altar" like all living things and just left behind our footprints!
As the preacher said we've changed the hymn. It used to read "Take my life and let it be consecrated Lord to thee." Now we say, "Take my life" inside the church and "let it be" outside the church!
If your Christianity doesn't change your home life, work habits and vision - don't call yourself a Christian because you are living in deception!
But this faith ... what is it? I don't believe it is just "acknowledging God exists". The rest of the chapter surely suggests otherwise. It lists people and snippets of their lives, which showed they were "sold out" to God.
So what is this faith? Like the picture of the cat clinging on by just his front paws, our faith must be demonstrated in the fact that if God is not first and all - I am nothing. My breath is in His hands; therefore I must be obedient to His call and His will.
As Jesus said just before the cross "Not my will but yours be done."
If God has told you to do it, do it. If He hasn't, don't! Because that is the plumb-line against which He will reward you when He returns.
