YOUR BROTHER'S BLOOD CRIES OUT TO ME
There is something very special about blood - certainly as far as God is concerned.
There is for me too - I'd be dead without it!
Cain made his second mistake. First of all he thought he could be "offhand" with God - now he thought he could take a life and do it in secret. Then naturally, he lied.
But God looks at "shed blood" - it arouses His attention. Blood cries out to God. Cain is exposed. Yes, I know God is omnipresent and all seeing anyway but this is something even more significant. Abel's blood cries out to God from the ground.
Here we have a picture of sacrifice. Whenever an animal dies, it's blood cries out to God. God would hear, and see the blood and grant forgiveness. Abel's blood was not only a forerunner of the sacrifices of the Mosaic Law but points beyond them to the sacrifice of the Lamb of God.
We need to be "covered" by the blood of the Lamb. It cries out to God on our behalf - continuously - as His was the perfect sacrifice once and for all.
Today His blood is still crying out to God on your behalf. No matter what you've done, no matter how sinful you feel; how much you have let him down; feel a failure, desperate or a hopeless case - listen, His blood cries out to God for you today.
Come; be cleansed in the blood of the Lamb for it cries out to God on your behalf today.
Come be cleansed, be healed, be forgiven, and be made whole. There is power in the blood of the Lamb, which constantly cries out to God on your behalf.
Hebrews 12:22-24 "But you have come ... to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant and to the sprinkled blood that speaks (cries out?) a better word than the blood of Abel."
