THOUGH YOU HAVE NOT SEEN HIM, YOU LOVE HIM
Do you?
I do. I can't think of anyone I love more. He is so precious to me. In fact I can honestly say He becomes more and more precious to me as the years go by. As I walk with Him more; as I spend time with Him and allow Him time to talk to me; and as I try to immerse myself in His Word more and more, I find I love Him more and more.
No, I haven't seen Him with these natural eyes, but by faith I have seen Him, heard Him. Felt Him, loved Him and known Him. The greatest expectation in my life is that one day I shall indeed see Him. Oh, how I long for that day! It permeates my days and is the total motivation of my whole life. One day I shall SEE HIM! But though I haven't seen Him in the flesh yet, I still love Him.
I wonder if Peter was thinking of Thomas when he wrote these words? Dear old Thomas, who should have been there, but was missing! Then he was there with the disciples, and so was Jesus. What did Jesus say to Thomas? "You are happy because you have seen Me and so will now believe, BUT let Me tell you this, even more happy are those who believe and yet have not seen Me."
I'm one of those! I'm thrilled because I believe even though I have not seen. But, hey - when I do see ...when I do see! That will be totally something else!
But 'till then I will go on loving the One who first loved me and gave Himself up for me.
How precious is Jesus to you? Because the answer to that question will be the hallmark of your day, today and the rest of your life.
May you come to that point where just the mention of His name - Jesus - floods your soul with peace and joy and brings a new lightness to your spirit and step. The expectation of seeing Him should cause you to seek to love and serve Him more and more.
