Genesis 7:13
ON THAT VERY DAY NOAH ... ENTERED THE ARK
God's promises and judgements are sure and certain.
He said He would destroy the earth and send rain, and here it is beginning to fall. The ark was completed. The food had been gathered and the animals had arrived. The rain began; the springs became torrents and the rivers burst their banks. On that very day, Noah entered the ark and his salvation and that of his family was assured.
The "story" of Noah is fact - is history, but it also illustrates for us many events that followed. God uses symbolism to be able to communicate with mankind. He did with Abraham; He did with Isaac and Jacob; He did with Moses and Joshua and many of the kings and prophets - and finally when Jesus walked this earth, He too, used symbolism and parables.
What does this verse illustrate to us - to me? It reminds me of 1 Corinthians 10:13 "You will not be tempted beyond what you can bear, but He will also through the temptation also provide a way of escape". (My paraphrase!) When the storms of life batter you from above and beneath and you feel all is lost - go enter your ark - and it will bear you above them.
What is your "ark"? JESUS. Cast all your care on Him for He cares for you! (1 Peter 5:7)
It reminds me of Moses. When Pharaoh set out to kill all the baby Hebrews - his mother hid him for three months - until she had "built him" an "ark", then she placed him in it and he was saved when Pharaoh's daughter took the floating ark in her arms.
It reminds me that God said He will destroy the world one day. No, not with water this time but with fire. I need an "ARK" to see me through! No, not a boat this time - something far superior. Not even a space shuttle with re-entry reinforcements.
I need a Heavenly Ark and His name is Jesus.
Before the end of this world, make sure you enter the ark God has provided and ordained for you!
