THEY CAME... FULLY DETERMINED TO MAKE DAVID KING OVER ALL ISRAEL
"Career" development in the British Armed Forces can go something like this.
You start in the Infantry - as a foot soldier. Then you can get "promoted" to gunner. Then, if all goes well you can move on up to the Tank Corps. If you are more adventurous still you can be transferred to the Marines. If that isn't enough "fun" you could offer, and if accepted, join the Parachute Regiment. The Marines and Parachute Regiments are at the cutting edge of all Military Action. They are considered the "cream" of the troops. If you were ever accepted by one of those a) you were good and b) you could never go back down the "ladder" as having tasted the adrenalins rush, there was nothing left to compare with it.
However, there is one other group left. "La creme de la creme". They are called the Special Air and the Special Boat Squadrons. (S.A.S. or S.B.S.). These men are set apart. They go where no one else wants or dares to go. The S.A.S.'s motto is WHO DARES WINS. They engage in covert operations. No one is supposed to know who they are or where they are. (Except their "employers" of course!) They come and go and strike at will. There is certainly no going back for them, either. There is only one way out and that is being carried out horizontally! They are fully determined to win. In technical terms they are fully determined to establish the authority of Her Majesty the Queen of England in the situation. (Or Her Government if you prefer.)
I believe God has called us, you and me, to warfare. There can be no C. O.'s (conscientious objectors) in spiritual warfare. We are all involved at one level or another. And I believe we are also all given the choice as to which level we fight. It all depends on how determined we are to make Jesus King. King of our lives; King of our families; King of our street; King of our neighbourhood; King of our town or city; King of our nation; King of our world.
How determined are you? Which group are you serving in?
Take heart in a very real way - He Who Dares Wins! Why?
Because we are on the winning side and victory is ours, sure and certain! So, let's together, GO AND DARE TO WIN and see the enemy take flight!
Once you have "walked on water" there is no other way to travel and certainly no turning back!
