This month I want us to look at why we are still on earth! We are not in Heaven yet - we are destined to go there - and many of us would like to go there quickly (be it to escape the present, be released from the pain experienced on earth or just out of an overwhelming desire to "be with Jesus"). So why can't we go there straight away once we have become a Christian? Maybe there is still something for me to do or become on earth. Let's together have a look at what we are here for... |

THE SON OF MAN CAME TO SEEK AND TO SAVE THE LOST
Someone once commented to me that he heard a testimony from a person who said he had "found God". To use my friend's words "I didn't know God was lost!"
No, the Son of Man (God) came to seek and to save the lost!
Interestingly enough, that was the purpose of Jesus' mission. Well, at least, that is what Jesus said was the purpose of His mission! To seek and save the lost.
What then is the mission of the Church? What then is your and my "mission"!
Well, I'll tell you what Jesus thinks it is ... to seek and save the lost. You see He has asked us to carry on His mission while He is temporarily away. To help us do it He has given us His Holy Spirit to be with us, to enable us to do it and to do it successfully because He knew we couldn't do it on our own.
The question has to be asked - is your Church's "mission statement" the same one as that of Jesus? If not why not?
Also is your own "mission statement" the same as that of Jesus? If not why not?
And what are you now going to do about it?
It is sometimes hard being asked the hard questions isn't it, but if we are actually going to do what God has asked us to do, the questions have to be asked and answered.
Rather now than later!
We do have a choice - that choice is still there.
But as for me and my house - we will serve the Lord and with His help and by His grace we will continue to do all we can to seek and save the lost.
What a great privilege is ours - to have on earth the same Mission as Jesus did!
