This month I want us to look at why we are still on earth! We are not in Heaven yet - we are destined to go there - and many of us would like to go there quickly (be it to escape the present, be released from the pain experienced on earth or just out of an overwhelming desire to "be with Jesus"). So why can't we go there straight away once we have become a Christian? Maybe there is still something for me to do or become on earth. Let's together have a look at what we are here for... |

AND EXPLAINED TO HIM THE WAY OF GOD MORE ADEQUATELY
What a lovely turn of phrase for putting someone straight! And yet it encapsulates where these dear ones were.
Aquila and Priscilla were true followers of Jesus. They had a challenging life. Probably hounded for their faith as well as having to "move house" on account of their faith and nationality. But that didn't make them bitter and resentful, rather it released "them" to be "sold out to God".
Not ashamed of their faith, not even "protective", but rather since they feared God they had no need to fear man, whether an antagonist or someone with a far more visual up front ministry.
Were they jealous of Apollos? Were they going to "put him straight"? No, they invited him into their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately.
Here were two nobodies - just plain and ordinary servants of the living God, but by their hospitality and love they had a major influence and impact on someone who already had an amazingly "successful" ministry.
It takes "special" people to bless and serve the "servants of God", especially the "better known ones".
How well do you know Jesus and the ways of God? How open is your home? Could you bless and serve a well-known "servant of God" in humility and love, which would add a new dimension, a new direction and a new vitality to their expanding ministry? Without being jealous? Without being judgemental?
Let's do all we can today to bless the servants of God we know.
