Romans 5:9
WE HAVE NOW BEEN JUSTIFIED BY HIS BLOOD
Now!
Isn't it strange? We live in an 'instant society,' where we want all our answers now; we want 'out' of all our troubles, trials and temptations NOW; which God neither promises nor expects and yet, there is some thing that is for 'now' and we can't accept or fathom it! That, however, doesn't stop it being true. Hallelujah!
Yes, sanctification takes a lifetime, but justification is immediate. How come? Sanctification is largely up to us, whereas justification is up to God and His acceptance of the sacrifice of His Dear Son! Sanctification takes place in direct correlation with how much I allow the Holy Spirit to control my life - my thinking processes, my terms of reference, my speech and my actions. Justification is outside of me - sanctification is on the inside of me!
We are justified through the shed Blood of Christ - which was shed for me "Whether I like it, desire it or want it or not."
Go back to Egypt for a minute. If an Egyptian had gone into a Hebrew home on the Passover night - the Angel of death would have to pass over him - 'just-as-if' he was a Hebrew. He would have been covered by the blood of the Passover lamb. Similarly, if a Hebrew was out on the streets, though he was a Hebrew he would have been treated 'just-as-if' he was not and would still have died, because he was NOT covered by the blood of the Passover lamb.
As Paul says "Since" - not a question of future, but a fact of the present. Since we have NOW been justified by His Blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through Him. Notice he says God's wrath not Hell! It's God's wrath that we need to fear and it is God's wrath that we have been saved from.
No matter when Jesus returns; no matter when God ends this world; no matter when I am called into His Presence - (whether my sanctification process has run its full course here on earth or not) I will still be fully justified, clean, pure, holy, and acceptable to enter the Holy of Holies because I have been justified by His Blood.
