November Topic: EMMANUEL - GOD WITH US

WE HAVE SEEN HIS GLORY!

Let's spend November together looking at the fact that God longs to be with us and for us to spend time with Him.

Genesis 1:28

GOD BLESSED THEM AND SAID...

"God bless you" is a 'hackneyed cliché' these days, isn't it?

That means it is used far too often out of context so that by now it means nothing to anyone. T.V. personalities seem to use it in the hope that you will tune in to their programme again. Others use it as a greeting or farewell, and if you asked them what they meant by it, they would probably wonder if they had said it at all; what on earth you were talking about, or apologise for saying it in the first place!

The Bible says it because it has meaning. God blessed them... God blesses something when; He shows His favour; He showers His love; He grants His Grace; and fulfils His faithfulness towards or upon it.

For me to say "May God bless you" or just "Bless you" means that I desire God's best in your life. For you to know the reality of His Presence; the joy of His peace; the thrill of His promises and the fulfilment of His destiny in your life. God does that. That is how He blesses us.

Paul says in Romans 8:28 "all things work together for good to those that love God and are living according to His will." God blesses us as we saw last month, in all sorts of ways, through His grace. He is constantly "ON OUR SIDE." He wants His best in our lives. We can and do move out of His blessing, by going our own way. But His desire is that we remain in His will, or if not, at least return to it and then stay there. Don't settle for second best - be 'sold out' to Him and live constantly under His blessing.

What else did God say? "Be fruitful..." God will bless the fruit of your womb with children. "Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every creature that moves over the face of the ground." He made us trustees of His creatures and creation.

In the same way He blesses us, He expects us to rule in blessing. To recognise the hand of God in creation and to rule by delegated authority. Our rule was never to supplant God's rule but to carry out His rule, on His behalf, on earth, so that we would look after it, tend it and care for it as He would.

God's original intention was, and still is, to bless us His creation and His people.

That is the desire of His heart!

How good a trustee are you?
