God's promises are sure! Let's spend this month, the last of the year, reminding ourselves that His promises are sure and certain, and then let's become a grateful people! |
Psalm 103:2
FORGET NOT ALL HIS BENEFITS...
Do you live on the benefit? I do - God's benefits!
Count your blessings name them one by one and it will surprise you what the Lord has done. (Or as some say - Count your blessings weigh them by the ton!). As we look back and remember, so we become a thankful people. We remember that we were aliens, enemies of God and yet through His grace and His grace alone we are who we are, and we are where we are, today.
Go back over the last eleven months and make a list of all those times when God blessed you; when you knew He was there through the tough times; those times when you saw His hand move miraculously in the natural. Those times when as you sat quietly on your own, and you felt the wonder and warmth of His love and presence.
Remember those times when you felt 'clean' again as you were washed in the Blood of the Lamb; His forgiveness overwhelmed you and you felt clean and pure once more. Those other times, when as you came closer to Him, suddenly the scales fell from your eyes and 'you knew Him and saw Him' in a new and living way. You heard that message that drew you closer to Jesus, or you saw Him in 'a new light'.
The times you got 'lost' in praise and worship. And the times you felt a release from sin, failure, tension, pressure or whatever and for a while you 'flew like an eagle.' The times He healed you; saved you from accident; and carried your burdens as you cast your cares upon Him. The times He used you to bless others, with a word of encouragement, a prayer, or a testimony. The folk that you have witnessed to and led to the Lord.
Also read through Ephesians chapter 1 again, and see how God has blessed you in the Heavenly realms in Christ Jesus!
As you go back through the list, remember this - as He has blessed you this year, so He will bless you in the future. Your experiences may be different, your circumstances and challenges may be different - but His benefits will still be yours for the receiving!
May I encourage you to keep a diary next year - even if it is just to highlight your highs and lows and those special times with God. They will then act like the pillars and altars Abraham and Jacob erected as they had special encounters with God.
Forget not all His benefits, for He cares for you, and loves to hear you say "Thank you."
