OH LORD, OPEN HIS EYES SO THAT HE MAY SEE
I know how Elisha felt!
I have sat on 'boards' where the faith level seemed almost non-existent! I have been where his servant was too. I have seen the mountains, I have seen the impossibilities, I have seen pending disaster and I've panicked.
However, by the Lord's grace, I have also 'seen' by faith the chariots of fire. The Christian does not live in a world of fantasy; he lives in the natural world, with all its challenges, difficulties, dangers, fears, animosity, doubt and evil. He experiences all of life's emotions, disappointments, disillusionment and despair. He is affected by them, of course he is! He is also challenged by more; like injustice, poverty, perversion, occultism, pride, violence, wickedness and evil. BUT BUT BUT he has also read to the end of the book; he has read the final chapter. He knows who wins.
It means that having accepted Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord he is not just a rational, natural being. He is also spiritual, and depending upon the amount he allows the Holy Spirit to invade and control him, he will see 'spiritual things' naturally!
I love deadlines. God has never missed one yet. Here is Elisha with a deadline! Either God acts or he is "history". God had a plan, Elisha knew. His servant was about to find out - so was the enemy!
How open are your spiritual eyes? If you are 'sold out' to God they will come into focus. If you are to be a person of faith, you need to get them trained!
Don't look at the difficulties in front of you. Look for what God intended. Remember He is a 'Big' God and thrives on the impossible. Just believe what He says regardless - don't speculate on the outcome or the way out. Let Him do what He likes.
But be realistic - expect a miracle!
Always look beyond the obvious and see what God will do!
