Ephesians 1:15
EVER SINCE I HEARD ABOUT YOUR FAITH
I shall never forget this verse.
I was involved in some systematic Bible teaching going through Ephesians and we got to this verse and I was asked to hurry it along! The Lord had already given me three messages, for this verse alone, which I want to share with you over the next two days.
The first relates to us as individuals. Tell me, has anyone heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus? There is no such thing as a closet or secret Christian. People need to know about your faith. I always felt, when I was in the secular workface, that it was for other people to tell me I was a Christian, rather than me going around claiming to be one and then letting the other Christians down. It always was a special joy to me when people would come up and say to me "You are a Christian, aren't you?"
However, whenever the moment or opportunity arose they "got it with both barrels"!
Talking about both barrels though, I shall always remember one moment especially. It was late one Friday afternoon. The room was already full, except for one guy, who came in and as he slumped to his desk he said, "One thing's for certain we're all going to die!"
The room went deathly silent and I could "feel" all the pairs of eyes looking my way! I looked around, grinned and said, "Actually I'm not so sure - I don't think I will!" I then had the joy of telling them about how I believe I shall still be alive when Jesus returns. It was the first time any of them had ever been told that Jesus is coming back. I digressed - sorry about that, but I did want to share that story!
The second relates to the Church. You belong to a Church - has anyone heard of the "faith" of your church. Paul had heard of the faith of the Church of Ephesus. What about yours?
You see, I believe, if people hear about the faith of our Churches, the Churches will become full! People are crying out to know of a Church with faith!
How big is your faith! Is it big enough to talk about?
Do people know of your 'faith' and the 'faith' of your Church?
You see, both are up to you!
