October Topic: Grace |
As it is not until we have a deep appreciation of what GRACE is and means, that we really come into the full liberty in Christ that we have been purchased to experience, let's take this month to explore some of its depths and treasures. |
Romans 6:12
THEREFORE DON'T LET SIN REIGN
You do have a choice!
It's not a case of our minds being pure and our bodies being impure, so it doesn't matter what I do with my body. No. That's non-biblical theology. God created man in His image. He also created the 'body' of man and saw that it was good.
We are responsible for what we do every minute of the day and furthermore God is always present. We cannot hide from Him. Adam & Eve found that out right in the very beginning. David later explains it for us in Psalm 139. Try not to forget some of the old hymns and choruses because they are our Christian heritage. Remember the one that went "Keep me true Lord Jesus, keep me true. There's a race I must run, there are battles to be won, Give me power every hour to be true." The same can be sung regarding purity.
Read again Philippians 4:8 and take note of the things we should dwell upon. Whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent or praiseworthy.
Challenge yourself by asking yourself the questions:
- Would Jesus want to come where I'm going?
- Would He want to watch what I'm watching?
- Would He want to see what I'm seeing?
- Would He want to read what I'm reading?
- Would He want hear what I'm hearing or listening to?
- Would He want to think what I'm thinking?
- Would He say what I'm saying?
- Would He want to walk where I'm walking?
If not, then neither should I.
Put a watch and guard on your life. You do have a choice!
Remember what David said in Psalm 86:11 "Give me an undivided heart."
Psalm 18:21 - 23 "I have kept the ways of the Lord. I have not done evil by turning from my God. I have not turned away from His decrees. I have been blameless before Him and have kept myself from sin."
Psalm 101:2 - 3 "I will be careful to lead a blameless life" and
"I will set before my eyes no vile thing."
Yes, the choice is ours and He has given us His Holy Spirit to give us the power so that we don't let sin reign!
